As his future with the LA Clippers is uncertain, it appears that Patrick Beverley is enjoying his unrestricted free agency to the fullest.
Patrick Beverley is in full out troll mode. While he may not be the flashiest name on the free agency list this summer, the point guard is going to be heavily sought after. While many would love to see him stay with the LA Clippers, there is still uncertainty and Beverley is enjoying it to the fullest.
Bev has already made some waves, tweeting out nothing but eyeball emojis to Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks. This happened days after Marc Stein reported that Dallas had interest in bringing in Beverley to compliment Doncic.
Beverley has since taken to twitter to stir the pot a little more. First, he retweeted a quote from his recent interview with NBA.com. In case you missed the interview, here’s the full quote:
"Beverley: Favorite teammate ever. Ever. Favorite teammate ever. When I came to Atlanta, he was the first person I got up with. We talk about everything, family. He’s like my brother. We’ve spent a lot time together with the Rockets and Clippers. That’s gonna be a big point this offseason. If I do choose to leave (the Clippers), I’d be leaving him, my brother Lou Will. And that would be tough on me."
This is positive for Clipper fans who want him to stay. The bond between the two is extremely tight and Beverley seems like the type of guy who values loyalty highly.
However, following the retweet of that quote, a fan replied with “Chicaaaaaaggggggooooooo” (Beverley’s home town), to which Bev replied:
Who knows what this man is doing? We sure don’t. Chicago doesn’t seem like a likely location given that they are far off from contending, so it does seem like Patrick is in full troll mode. Bev will definitely have suitors given his performances this season and in the playoffs. He was the Clippers leader on the court and the team went as he did.
Losing him will be tough even if we do gain a superstar. Hopefully the front office can work some magic to land two max players and still find money to bring back Beverley for more than the veteran minimum.
