As we sit at home watching the NBA playoffs and wait for free agency, LA Clippers’ fans need to remember not to be “those” fans.

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the LA Clippers. After trading our best player for the second season in a row, this team managed to steal two games from the defending champion Golden State Warriors and show the league that there’s something special in the making for LA’s “other team”.

But let’s not let that excitement turn us into “those” fans. You know the exact type I am talking about. Fan edits of X player in a Clippers jersey. Telling fans of other teams that next year is already wrapped up. Guaranteeing a title or two.

It’s not becoming and on the chance that we do land one/ both of Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant, there’s no need to trash talk the rest of the league. Being proud of what the organization has accomplished is one thing. Trash talking other fans because a player picks us is another.

It’s already gotten bad. After the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Toronto Raptors last night, you could already see it happening online. If you dive into the comments of Reddit’s game thread, there are several examples of people clamoring that Kawhi will be a Clipper.

First off, the series is only 2-1. Toronto might not look right, but they are far from being eliminated. Even so, an elimination does not guarantee Kawhi leaves. The Raptors are still the favorites to have him on their roster next season and should be treated as such.

Just pump the brakes. We already experienced what being a disliked team felt like during the Lob City era. Hasn’t it been much more fun being the darling team of the NBA this past season? Stay humble and that won’t change (too much).

I’m not going to speak badly of specific fan bases here, but we have all seen other team’s fans post jersey edits and unrealistic rosters only to have their team not even secure a meeting with anyone.

Let’s be better than that Clipper Nation.
