The Arguments FOR An Anthony Davis Trade

The argument for trading for Anthony Davis really kind of makes itself if you’ve ever seen the guy play. He’s a dominant force on the basketball court. A seven-footer with the ability to handle the ball, play with his back to or facing the basket, and can be an elite rim-protector at the other end. Point is, he’s elite and there’s absolutely no denying that.

Davis posts career averages of 25.9PPG/12RPG/3.9APG. Those are honestly incredible and you can see exactly why so much is being demanded for his services.

For many Clippers fans, the choice is easy. Whatever the Pelicans want for Anthony Davis, you give it to them. For whatever players you would have to give up and the production they bring, it’s worth it to bring in a talent like AD.

Besides the obviously amazing production that Davis himself would bring to the Clippers, there’s also the fact that having a player like Anthony Davis in a city like Los Angeles would instantly make the Clippers the most appealing destination for any free agent. I would argue that they already are the most appealing destination, but having AD would simply leave zero doubt. Sorry, not sorry, LeBron. With Anthony Davis alone, the Clippers front office would be capable of assembling a team that would make at least a deep run into the playoffs. If they were to add a second superstar free agent to the roster, they’d absolutely be contenders for a championship.

However, it’s hard to ignore the cost of acquiring a player like Davis, so it’s worth looking into reasons for the Clippers to hold off on a trade.
