According to his recent post on Instagram, JaMychal Green is eager to head back into the NBA playoffs and make a deeper run with the LA Clippers.

According to his recent post on Instagram, JaMychal Green seems open to signing a new contract with the LA Clippers.

While we aren’t sure of any contract details yet, Green’s words and pictures show positivity about a possible new deal with the organization. The camaraderie displayed in these pictures as well as Green’s talk of “making a deeper run with his teammates” shows the potential of him signing a new contract with the Clippers. The Clippers organization and its fans should be glad to see this kind of energy coming from Green.

He was traded to the Clippers from the Memphis Grizzlies back at the trade deadline and has fit in ever since. Green started in 2 of his 22 regular season games with the Clippers. During that time he averaged 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in right under 20 minutes. This helped the Clippers finish their season as a top 8 team in the West.

In the playoffs, the Clippers managed to take the Golden State Warriors to 6 games despite being incredibly mismatched 5 former NBA All-Stars (2 of these All-Stars being former MVP’s) to 0.
Green started in 2/6 of these games and averaged 11 points and 5 rebounds in just under 24 minutes per game. While the Clippers’ playoff exit is heartbreaking, the team already had more success than anyone expected this year. Their success and potential to sign an All-Star caliber player this offseason likely make them appeal to Green.

Aside from the numbers, Green is an important player for the Clippers because of his size and mobility. He is big enough to face larger opponents down low and athletic enough to move around them easier. He plays extremely well off the ball, allowing the team’s offense to be more effective. The Clipper’s roster contains more guards than any other position which makes signing Green a high priority.

It will be interesting to see how the Clippers’ front office handles JaMychal Green’s contract situation during the summer. Patrick Beverley, Wilson Chandler, and Garrett Temple are all due for new contract as well.
