Terry Rozier
Having struggled this season playing second fiddle to Kyrie Irving, Terry Rozier‘s position during contract negotiations should have weakened. He is still an enigma, however. Last year he helped guide the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals in Irving’s absence – earning the nickname “Scary Terry” during the process. This season he has been a shadow of that man, struggling to adapt to his new role on the Celtics bench and should he sign to the Clippers in the off-season, that would still be his role.
Rozier is a young player with adequate upside. He is long and athletic, can pass the ball and make his shots. He would be the perfect back-up to SGA if he is able to accept his role within the team. Stats wise he has indeed had a poor season averaging 9 points over 22.7 minutes on a paltry 38.7% from the field – his one saving grace is that he has connected on 35.3% of his 3-point attempts and 78.5% of his free-throw’s whilst also handing out 3 assists and grabbing 4 rebounds over the course of 79 games.
At only 25 we have not seen the best of “Scary Terry” and it remains to be seen if we ever will, but at a reduced price it may be worth taking a chance on him in a new system under the tutelage of Doc Rivers. Rozier is a restricted free agent and it remains to be seen whether Boston would look to match an offer sheet, but with his upside and age he makes this list.
