4. 2017-2018 Season – So Long Blake Griffin

The 2017-2018 season made one thing clear, Lob City was over. After the eventual departure of Chris Paul via trade, Blake Griffin signed a max deal and was dealt the following season to the Detroit Pistons.

The team would move forward throughout the season staying competitive but not good enough to make the playoffs as Doc missed the playoffs for the first time in his Clippers career, but the season showed he could compete with role players and young talent.

Not making the playoffs stung for Clippers fans, but a step in the right direction to where we are now with two available max slots and a culture of winning, which stemmed from the winning record from last season.

2017-2018 also saved Rivers and his job with the success he had with such a unique roster, so 2017-2018 may have felt like a failure, but it really set the table for what is going on right now with the LA Clippers.
