The LA Clippers tip off super early today as they try to continue their incredible March. The opponent is a poor New York Knicks team.

If you’ve been more enamored with March Madness and haven’t been watching much of the LA Clippers, let me fill you in on something: The LA Clippers have the best winning percentage in the league for the month of March. The team enters today’s early matchup versus the New York Knicks at an astounding 9-1 this month.

This momentum is huge, as the team currently sits in 7th in the Western Conference standings. Seeding has been changing game by game, so every game has to be taken seriously. I say that because this has all the makings of a trap game. The Clippers have to be feeling good about themselves as they face off against a Knicks team that not only is last in the Eastern Conference at 14-59, but who’s front office has made it clear that they have no intention in winning this season and would rather tank for Zion Williamson.

This game might be a big one for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. It will be his first time playing in Madison Square Garden and it couldn’t come at a better time. The rookie point guard is having the best month of his young career. Prior to the win over Cleveland on Friday night, Shai’s month looked like this: 14.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists on .539/.667/.720 shooting splits (thanks Garrett!)

Playing at MSG is a big moment for many players and Shai could show out today.

The last time these teams met, the Clippers won handily 128-107. This game was at the beginning of the month and rookie Landy Shamet was the leading scorer, knocking down 7 of his 11 three point attempts.

The game has an early tip at noon east coast time. The Clippers need to make sure they are awake and they can put away the Knicks early in order to get some extra rest before heading off to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves on Thursday.
