Bol Bol – C Oregon
Bol Bol is a very risky pick. Son of Manute Bol, Bol is not nearly the tower his father was standing at only 7’2. Sporting a 7’6 wingspan, he could be a very, very serious shot blocker in the NBA.
He has also shown some aptitude on the offensive end with averages of 21.0 points per game which includes 52% shooting from deep on 2.8 attempts per game. Let that sink in.
Yes, his height and length truly are impressive, but there are some major concerns. Much like his father, Bol Bol is super skinny. He only weighs in at 222 pounds and given his pedigree, it’s hard to see him increasing that total by much more. He might be pushed around in the post by the stronger players in the league.
The other concerning part for Bol is his injury. He only appeared in nine games for the Ducks before breaking a bone in his foot.
Foot injuries for big men is always a red flag. While there have been no setbacks, teams have to be aware that he could have more problems. The combination of his small frame and injury have already dropped him outside of the top then in mock drafts after originally looking like a top prospect, so who knows how alarmed teams really are.
