When asked about the LA Clippers’ Lou Williams, Kawhi Leonard said he definitely believes the reining Sixth Man of the Year should be an All-Star.

As part of the yearly All-Star festivities, all members of the game are subjugated to a media frenzy where almost anything can be asked. Kawhi Leonard, who is representing the Eastern Conference for the first time in his career, was asked about LA Clippers’ star Lou Williams and his lack of All-Star appearances. His response? He should definitely be one.

You can see the whole response below, as well as Kawhi’s whole media session.

Okay, so he was a little more cordial in his response by saying there are a lot of people that deserve it. He also understands how much of a role the media plays in what players are selected.

But still, this is a Clippers site and we are going to speculate. Can’t blame us, right?

Leonard talking openly about Clippers players is a good sign for his impending free agency this summer. He, along with the rest of the league, has to be aware that he is the number one target for LA this coming summer. He has seemingly taken notice of Williams play and could be imagining his future together with him.

Kawhi did also talk about how he has enjoyed Toronto as both a city and an organization so far, but still isn’t a fan of the cold. He is a California native, so the weather may just be a bit too much for him.

There’s not much to go by on whether or not Kawhi prefers to stay in Toronto or head to LA, so we’ll have to take these little nuggets as something.

Leonard is obviously the preferred get this summer, but the Clippers will be aggressive in pursuing others including Kevin Durant. The team has opened up enough cap room to sign one max contract level player and could in theory open up another slot should they move some pieces this summer. The team could also try and get involved in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes now that they have added more assets to try and move for the superstar.

The Clippers may not have an All-Star representing them this year, but getting Leonard or another star player this summer could have them participating come this time next season.
