The New Guys

RAPP: We’ve got one or two more here then we’ll wrap it up: Let’s talk about some of the other new guys. Landry Shamet was called a ‘mini’ J.J. Redick, then learned how to be JJ by, well, J.J. Redick, and now he’s on Redick’s old team with his old coach.

Where do we think Landry fits in short/long term with this Clippers roster?

KIMBRELL: I’m claiming the front spot on the Landry Shamet Fan Wagon.

CHONG: I think his ceiling is that J.J. Redick role, albeit playing it at a very high level.

CULLEN: Scoring wing in the starting lineup if needed, or a Lou replacement if he ends up getting traded or starts to age rapidly.

SNELLINGS: I don’t want to fall in love with anyone yet. I’m too scared they’ll be traded away. But, for what it’s worth, I love Shamet already.

KIMBRELL: I think he’s got the potential to be a long term shooting guard for the Clippers. If he continues to be an elite floor spacer, that’s invaluable

LOFTIN: I think Landry may end up having the most staying power on the roster. I think everyone on the roster is available right now, but I think Shamet fits perfectly as the fifth option that could shoot should the Clippers get their super team.

KIMBRELL: Right. He works with every superstar available on the market

RAPP: To that point, @Seth Kimbrell, it really seems the Clippers’ floor spacing is about to change dramatically from their pre-deadline roster.

KIMBRELL: Probably so. To this point in the season, the Clippers are *dead last* in 3 point attempts

LOFTIN: Side note/hot take: I don’t think Shai is in the Clippers future plans unless they completely strike out on the big names.

CULLEN: Wow, are you throwing Shaid?

CHONG: That take is too hot.

RAPP: I’d say Shai leaves for an Anthony Davis trade and only an Anthony Davis trade. Short of that, nah.

CHONG: Agreed.

KIMBRELL: I agree with Logan. I think he’s available for the perfect trade (read, AD or moving drastically up in the draft) but beyond that I think he stays.
