Trade Number Three – The NBA 2K Trade

To conclude, I present this trade offer. I call it the “NBA 2K Trade” because of it’s high unlikeliness, but who knows after the way the Knicks dealt Kristaps Porzingis.

Again, highly unlikely unless the Pelicans and Clippers want to hit the reset button. Holiday is likely staying with the team despite the Davis rumors and the likelihood that Davis and Holiday end up on the same team is slim to none. The Clippers would be giving up a lot with this trade, but maybe not even enough to get Davis and Holiday.

This trade would also make no sense for the Clippers because taking on both contracts, which are two and four year contracts respectively, makes no sense for a team who is all in on 2019 free agency.

The Take

The Clippers can put their name in the hat, but its doubtful that if the Lakers, who have more young assets than the Clippers, can’t strike a deal, the Clippers likely won’t either unless they really want to make Magic Johnson irate.

The Clippers could offer for Davis just to drive the price up on the Lakers, likely eliminating them from 2019 free agency and narrowing the double-max deal pot to three teams, the Clippers, Nets and Knicks.

Davis is a once-in-a-lifetime talent, but with all eyes on 2019 free agency, the Clippers should stand pat and wait to see what happens after July 1 and then assess the possibility of bringing the unibrow to the City of Angels, but in blue and red.
