Trade Number Two – The Win Now Trade

Saying “win now” may seem out of the realm of possibility for the Clippers, but with this trade offer, they could make themselves a real competitor in the West.

This trade works in regards to cap space due to Gallinari’s contract, which the Pelicans would only have to absorb until after next season. The Pelicans would also get two-lottery pick players in Alexander and Robinson, as well as Jonathan Motley and Angel Delgado, two young and raw front court prospects.

Three first round picks and two second round picks would be included in this deal, all after the Clippers no longer have protections influencing where those picks go.

The reason I call this a win now trade is because the Clippers would trade away solid, young talent, but what a roster the Clippers would have without destroying dreams in 2019 free agency. Beverley would take over PG duties, Bradley and Lou would likely dominate SG minutes, Luc and Thornwell could play SF and Harris and Davis could create one of the best scoring front courts in the NBA. Harrell, Scott, Teodosic and Marjonovic would round out the rotation in what could become a top 4 squad in the West, proving to respective free agents that the team could eclipse that goal with someone other than Tobias Harris.
