Los Angeles Clippers: 15 greatest scorers of all-time
Ken Norman played for the Clippers from 1987 to 1993, scoring the ball at a high clip while showcasing some nice athleticism along the way.
At 6-foot-8 weighing roughly 215 pounds, Norman was built like a prototypical small forward, one who enjoyed getting out in transition.
He wasn’t the fastest player on the court most nights, but he had some pretty nice hops which helped him when he decided to attack the basket. If when driving to the rim and no defender was in sight, Norman would throw down a highlight-worthy dunk. Should an opponent find himself standing within the painted area, the former first-round pick would find a way around him instead.
It wasn’t until his second season where Norman would become a bona fide scoring option. He saw his minutes increase to nearly 40 per game, resulting in a per game scoring average of 18.1. This was the best mark in what would be a career spanning a decade for Norman.
Norman would exceed double-digit scoring figures in seven consecutive seasons, five in Los Angeles. This would help him become the 10th leading scorer in Clippers history with 6,432 total points.
He was a key member in the team’s first playoff appearance in Los Angeles in 1992. Norman nearly averaged a double-double in those three postseason games with the Clippers with 12.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Unfortunately, Norman’s career has not stood the test of time. That being said, he was still one of the better scorers in the NBA during his time in the league. He was a necessary cog to help keep the Clippers competitive in their matchups, and was a guy with the potential for some amazing finishes around the basket.
