Point Guard. 2011-17. Chris Paul. 3. player. 77.

Chris Paul has built up a career that has him among the best floor generals not only of his era, but in the history of the NBA. His ability to control a game with his vision and IQ is elite, making it easy to forget his ability to put the ball in the basket all by himself.

“CP3” stands only 6-feet tall. Yet, it hasn’t stopped him from making a fool out of most of those who believe a tiny point guard can’t give folks the business.

Due to his inability to simply go through or around defenders in the paint, Paul has had to get creative in his scoring ways. He’s very methodical with his movements in making sure he gets to his spots no matter the defensive circumstances, combining both head and ball fakes to do so.

His mid-range game is what makes him truly dangerous. While breaking down a defender, Paul can simply stop on a dime and fire at will with elite efficiency. He is an above-average outside shooter, giving him the complete offensive package, which has proven very difficult to stop.

In six seasons with the Clippers, Paul’s highest scoring average was 19.5 points per game. It’s a good number for sure, but not among the game’s best. Even so, you always knew he could score at will if he chose to. There were certainly times, whether in the heat of a game or from start to finish, where he’d have more of a scorer’s mentality.

He will always be known more for his passing and leadership as a traditional point guard. But just like his personality, there’s plenty Paul hides beneath the surface that comes out at various points throughout a game. This usually spells trouble for whoever happens to be matched up with him on any given night.
