As of 2PM PST yesterday, the LA Clippers’ Patrick Beverley and Tyrone Wallace’s contracts became fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season.
The LA Clippers continued their under-emphasized season with a hot streak of two wins in a row thanks to a win on Sunday versus the Orlando Magic. Their record, 23-16, lands them into the top five teams of the Western Conference, fourth overall. They extended their record in front of power teams like the Houston Rockets, Lakers, Spurs and Trail Blazers.
Missed among the winning is the fact that both Patrick Beverley and Tyrone Wallace‘s contracts became fully guaranteed. While this doesn’t mean a lot for the future, it indicates that the team likely plans to keep both for the remainder of the season.
Patrick Beverley
Bev may be a free agent this summer, but his role on the Clippers hopefully means he will want to come back next year. Beverley has played fantastic most of the season. He has found his role in this deep Clipper team and it is no surprise he’s emerged as one of the leaders. His tenacity and infectious attitude of driving to be the best out on the court has spread throughout this Clipper team and is shown every night. I have no doubt he played a factor in unlocking the dominant Montrezl Harrell we are witnessing this season.
Beverley has been averaging seven points a game throughout the season so far on 38% shooting. For more of a defensive guard he has held this with congeal. The impact of Beverley’s court presence is huge. It’s huge because he gets in players heads quite easily. Not only is his impressive agitating method of defense intimidating for other teams, but no one wants him guarding them. He’s a force on defense, both mentally and physically. There are countless examples involving his scheme of defense as a breaking point for NBA professionals.
Tyrone Wallace
Tyrone Wallace is special. One thing about Wallace is that he can get to the hoop effortlessly. He’s made this apparent with his efficiency on the court. He spreads the floor. With limited minutes off the bench, Wallace is hitting an impressive 46.2 field goal percentage. Wallace has been implemented into the lineup recently and he’s doing great. The Clippers rightfully pounced on the opportunity to match his offer sheet in the offseason. His impact off the bench is going to be important moving forward and his efficiency is uncanny.
Wallace is a guard that can produce when you need him to, in any situation. He’s an attacker of the rim, a clamp on defense and speedster who’s impact lies in the sweeping arms off talent.
It is becoming apparent that Patrick Beverley and Tyrone Wallace have defining parts on this team. Their chemistry is a vital part in creation of the balanced roster the Clippers are thriving with.
