The LA Clippers look to pick up another easy win, this time against the Orlando Magic who have struggled thus far to a record of 17-21.
After defeating the Suns in Phoenix on Friday night, the LA Clippers are back home, this time against the 17-21 Orlando Magic.
Last Time
The two teams faced each other on November 2 in Orlando where the Clippers won 120-95. Lou Williams led the team in scoring with 28 points off the bench, but the win was a complete team effort.
Four other players scored in double digits including Tobias Harris who put up 21. The others were Danilo Galinari with 13 and both Montrezl Harrell and Boban Marjanovic with 10 apiece.
Tonight
Another full team effort would be great for the Clippers. They got back on track with a win in Phoenix on Friday and continuing to build on that could really help moving forward. It helps that most of the month of January is at home, so squandering one against the Magic cannot happen.
The match-up to watch will be at the center position. Nikola Vucevic has been in the media recently and not just for his stellar play. The big man is putting up career-high numbers across the board. He is having the typical contract year type of performance and very well may be dealt at the trade deadline.
In fact, the Clippers could potentially look at him to fill in the gap at center. Getting Vucevic could help them this season and the team would also retain his bird rights as they try to sign a star next summer. There’s a lot more to the cap situation, but Vuc could still fit in.
On the other side of the court for the Clips, there is no indication yet on who will start between Boban Marjanovic and Marcin Gortat. Marjanovic did get the start the last time out against the Magic, but has not been too effective lately.
Meanwhile, Gortat is coming off of his best game as a member of LA. The big man got his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. He looked rejuvenated and reminiscent of his early time with the Wizards. Perhaps he was motivated by facing a former team, which would be yet another reason for him to get the start again tonight.
