LA Clippers two-way player Angel Delgado set a G-League record for most rebounds in a single game on Friday night with the Agua Caliente Clippers.

On Friday night, the LA Clippers took down the Phoenix Suns 121-111. Lou Williams and Danilo Gallinari led the way with 21 points apiece, but they weren’t the story of the night.

That honor belongs to two-way player Angel Delgado, who grabbed a G-League record 31 rebounds in a 112-94 victory for the Agua Caliente Clippers, breaking the former record of 29. He tacked on 22 points too, just for good measure.

Delgado, 24, went undrafted this summer after playing four impressive seasons of college ball at Seton Hall University. The LA Clippers signed him shortly after the draft came to a close, and his contract was soon converted to a two-way deal, so he’d be able to spend time with the G-League Clippers and the ones in Los Angeles.

So far this season, Delgado is averaging 15.9 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. It appears as though the 6-10 center has made significant strides with Agua Caliente, as his numbers have improved significantly from his final year in college. Delgado also appears to be working on adding a three-point shot to his game, and despite a small volume of attempts, he’s knocking down a quarter of his attempts from deep. Considering he only attempted five shots from beyond the arc in college, that’s a nice jump to make in just 20 G-League games.

There’s a good chance we see Delgado with the LA Clippers at least a few times this season, especially since there’s an obvious weakness at the center position. He still has all 45 days of eligibility left on his two-way contract, too, so he could become a valuable asset down the stretch.

He’ll still need to improve before he makes his NBA debut, but with performances like this, it’ll be hard to ignore the strides he’s making with Agua Caliente.

Rookies are impressing

Delgado wasn’t the only Clippers rookie who put up big numbers last night. First-round pick Jerome Robinson went on a tear against Oklahoma City as well, going for 28 points while shooting 7-for-11 from three-point range.

Robinson has been a deadly shooter for the Agua Caliente Clippers this season, converting 49.2 percent of his three-point attempts per game. Even though there’s no spot for him in Los Angeles right now, it appears he’s taking full advantage of his time in the G-League.

The Agua Caliente Clippers will play their next game on Tuesday at home against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Currently seventh in the Western Conference, Agua Caliente can move to 13-9 with a win.
