Anthony Bennett played out of his mind for the Agua Calinete Clippers of Ontario, scoring 36 points in a win over the Austin Spurs.

Former first overall pick in 2013, Anthony Bennett shined bright recently for the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario. Agua Caliente (G-League affiliate of the LA Clippers) beat the Austin Spurs this past Friday, behind the 6’8″ power forward’s 36 points.

The defending 2017-2018 G-League Champion Austin Spurs had no answer for Bennett, who seemingly scored on every look he went for. He shot 8-9 from three, 12-13 from the field overall, and 4-4 from the free throw line. An absolute monster offensive performance that also included six boards and one assist. Defensively, Bennett logged one steal.

The 25-year-old boldly outperformed his season average 13.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. He turned heads with national coverage from NBA.com.

After moving around in the NBA from Cleveland, Minnesota, Toronto and Brooklyn, perhaps Bennett can keep turning heads and get another shot on an NBA roster. Although we hope the LA Clippers never need him due to injuries to our NBA roster, he would be a serviceable stretch big for any team.

“Any team” is the key word here. While Bennett is playing for the Clippers’ G-League affiliate, he is not exclusively their player. Only players on two-way contracts belong to their respective NBA team, so if Bennett continues to impress, any team could fly in and snag him. It does benefit the Clips to have him in their system, but they will need to keep a close eye on his progress.

If he does continue to impress this season and no one signs him, he could be a possible bench addition next season if the team is gutted in lieu of signing a star player. Bennett always had the talent, but his work effort kept him from finding success.

Keep an eye on Bennett, he may keep his fire burning bright in the G-League. Still relatively young, Anthony Bennett may just be reaching his prime.
