After fighting with Rajon Rondo, discussion has sparked about whether former LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul is a good teammate. Glen Davis says no.
Former LA Clippers big man Glen “Big Baby” Davis has never been shy with his criticisms of his former Los Angeles teammates. It should come as no surprise then, that Davis had some choice words directed at Chris Paul after his fight with Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo.
Rondo was clearly upset by the suspension he received on Monday, saying the following of Paul, via ESPN:
"“Of course, the NBA went with his side because I got three games and he got two. Everyone wants to believe Chris Paul is a good guy. They don’t know he’s a horrible teammate. They don’t know how he treats people. Look at what he did last year when he was in L.A.; trying to get to the Clippers’ locker room. They don’t want to believe he’s capable of taunting and igniting an incident.”"
Later in the week, Davis got involved in the conversation with an Instagram comment, which said, “I played with both of them. CP3 is a very bad teammate.”
Davis previously played with Rondo on the Boston Celtics from his rookie season in 2007 to his final season at the Garden in 2011. Paul and Davis played together for just over one season from the end of the 2013-2014 campaign to 2015. Davis hasn’t played in the NBA since, though he did play in the BIG3 League this summer.
This isn’t the first time that Davis has come after a former Clipper teammate of his — it’s not even the first time he’s come after Paul.
In 2016, Davis had a radio interview with Colin Cowherd, in which he was critical of Paul’s style of play and attitude. The clip can be seen around the 8:37 mark of the video, which is during a different interview that Cowherd held with Austin Rivers.
Later that same day, Davis released a profanity-laced rant about Rivers after he was critical of Davis’ work ethic. In the video, Davis bashed Rivers, saying, “Your father gave you your money.”
At this point, it’s hard to tell if Davis really feels this way about Paul and Rivers, or if he just hated his time in Los Angeles. All we really know is that supposedly feels more partial to Rondo than any of them.
The LA Clippers will face off with the Houston Rockets tonight at 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST. It will be Paul’s first meeting with his former team since March.
