Offense
Tyrone Wallace’s game was very unfamiliar to fans and coaches around the league when he was first brought up to the NBA by the Clippers.
All they knew was he played Point at Cal and had a nice 6’5 frame to go with it. But Wallace surprised many and made a name for himself when he showed that he can be very crafty offensively.
He showed his array of angles and ways he can get to the hoop last season. His floater was consistent as can be and certainly almost every time he drove it in, he would either score or get fouled.
This summer, Wallace worked more on his 3-Point Shot as he would rarely take them in games.
With Wallace’s size, craftiness, play-making and the ability to collapse the paint, it was a smart decision by the Front Office as to see why they re-signed him.
Wallace is only 24 years old and can expand his game if given the minutes this year.
Should he see minutes, expect him to play anywhere from the 1 to the 3 position.
Defense
Last season, the Clippers (due to injuries) primarily had Wallace defend the best guard/forward on the court.
With his frame, he was able to defend multiple positions pretty well. His On-Ball and Off-Ball IQ were solid as well.
This year it will be interesting to see a lineup including Wallace, Patrick Beverley, Avery Bradley and Luc Mbah A Moute.
He was able to hold his own whether in the post or on the perimeter.
I expect to see Wallace contribute on the defensive end this year as he average close to 1 steal per game last year.
Wallace will be one player to keep on throughout the season as whether or not he progressed or regressed on this side of the floor.
