Luc Mbah a Moute is once again a member of the LA Clippers, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. For a team that lacked quality wing depth last season, Mbah a Moute has the potential to hold the same importance off the bench as Lou Williams.

Mbah a Moute’s biggest strength is his defensive versatility. The combo forward can defend each and every position on the court effectively, both on the perimeter and in the paint. He’s consistently assigned the opposing team’s best player too, and never backs down from the challenge.

In certain situations, it may be best to start Mbah a Moute alongside Beverley and Bradley, and bringing Gallinari off the bench. A lineup featuring three of the league’s best perimeter defenders could cause some trouble, and may be necessary against the more offensively-focused teams like the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors.

While he was in Houston, Mbah a Moute seemed to improve his three-point shot as well. Although efficient from deep as a member of the Clippers from 2015-2017, Luc was able to splash home a career-high number of makes from beyond the arc last season (1.0) and convert them at a healthy 36 percent.

Barring any changes, Mbah a Moute will likely be the primary backup for both Gallinari and Harris, depending upon the rotation.
