Los Angeles Clippers Depth Chart Breakdown: Small Forward

On the Bubble
Wesley Johnson has disappointed since being selected fourth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2010 NBA Draft. Although he possesses good athleticism and seems to be a good locker room presence, his time with the Clippers has not gone much better.
Johnson is not an efficient offensive player. He shot only 40.8% from the field last year, which was actually his highest mark with the Clippers.
He is a capable defender, but he is not great. Sadly, we all remember that James Harden crossover last season.
Johnson is clearly the weakest player on the roster, but his $6.1 million salary might keep him from getting cut.
I expect the Clippers to try to trade Johnson, but I do not anticipate any deal getting done. The best move for the team is to just cut Johnson and absorb the dead cap. It would not be wise to let a young asset like Sindarius Thornwell or Jawun Evans leave just because of Johnson’s contract.
