After earning a 128-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, here are three takeaways from the Los Angeles Clippers second preseason game.
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-101 in their second preseason game of the 2018-19 season. This game featured a lot of offense, little defense and some time for the Clippers’ young players to spread their wings.
Though the win is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, there are still things the team can learn from. Here are three takeaways from the victory.
1) Patrick Beverley is back
After only appearing in eleven games for the Clippers last season, fans are ecstatic to have Patrick Beverley back on the court. Bev treats every game the same which has endeared him to every fan base he has played for.
Last night was no exception as he took three charges during a game that has no significant meaning. He only scored four points in his 22 minutes, but dished out five assists and recorded a steal and a block.
It is the intangibles that Bev brings to the table. The charges may not show up in the box score, but they help illustrate his effort on the court. He also dove for loose balls, hounded Derrick Rose and egged the team on.
The stats will follow, but seeing Beverley on the court giving it his all is what fans needed to see. Come opening night, expect him to take it up another notch.
Speaking of point guards who shined last night…
