The Los Angeles Clippers may not even have a shot at trading for All-Star Jimmy Butler according to recent reports by Adrian Wojnarowski.

It’s already time to pump the breaks regarding Jimmy Butler to the Los Angeles Clippers. According to a recent report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Minnesota Timberwolves are telling teams that they will not trade Butler despite his demand earlier this week.

This is a blow for not only the Clippers, but for several teams who are trying to bring Butler into the fold prior to the season’s start.

It is odd that the team would be unwilling to move Butler, especially after it was made public that he did not intend to re-sign with the team when he enters free agency in the summer of 2019.

Recent reports cite that Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns do not get along and the latter won’t agree to a contract extension until Butler is gone. With Towns being the younger of the two, one would think Minnesota would commit to a future with him quickly.

However, it seems that coach and president Tom Thibodeau is dead set on keeping Butler and trying to compete. With most team’s media day on Monday, it was at one point believed a move would be made. Now, we get to watch the awkwardness that is the Timberwolves media day.

For the Los Angeles Clippers, this may work out better in their favor. Yesterday, we discussed how waiting for Butler may work in the best interest of the team, especially considering he already said that the Clippers are likely his top choice next summer due to their ability to sign two max contract players.

Pairing Butler and Kawhi Leonard could have the Clippers in the championship conversation, but with many teams courting them next summer, nothing is guaranteed.

In the meantime, keep checking back here for any updates on the situation.
