The Los Angeles Clippers’ Tobias Harris helped his hometown by giving out backpacks and school supplies to Hempstead students.
The Los Angeles Clippers’ organization continually illustrates giving back to the community. Through the leadership of Steve Ballmer, the Clippers make sure to prioritize supporting local communities in the Los Angeles area and across the nation. Tobias Harris, the Clipper’s 26 year old small forward, represented what it means to be a Clipper on Wednesday, August 20th 2018.
Harris gave back to his local community. In Long Island, New York, Harris prepared young students for the upcoming year by giving away free backpacks and school supplies. The Long Island native recognizes the need for students to succeed in school. Additionally, Tobias is currently enrolled in school himself. Tobias currently is taking online courses for the betterment of his education.
Tobias Harris holds true to a moral value he stated in an interview with Long Island news 12:
"“Just continue to do good things to help out others.”"
Not only was Harris monumental in helping students in middle school on Wednesday, he prepared them for success. In addition, his parents played a huge role in the organization of the event. Harris and his parents are a perfect example of how giving back creates positivism and a smile on someone’s face. Harris is on a larger mission: to change the lifestyle of these middle school goers in New York through compassion and generosity.
Tobias had one last message to the new students. He encouraged them to do their best this school year. One act of kindness can change someone’s whole life forever, the Harris family did just that. Changing the world one step at a time, depicting the Los Angeles Clipper organization’s goal of building up families and local communities.
