Wesley Johnson may not be the most popular player on the LA Clippers roster, but I’ve got a few reasons why he’s my favorite.
There it is, I’ve finally said it — Wesley Johnson is my favorite Clipper. I’m not ashamed to admit that, and you shouldn’t be either, on the off chance that he’s yours too.
At this very moment in time in which we live, Johnson is the longest-tenured player on the team. He’s the only remaining piece that was brought in while Doc Rivers was still the president of the Clippers’ basketball operations, and honestly, it’s not a wild suggestion to claim that Johnson is one of the best players Rivers ever signed.
Of course, the competition isn’t exactly tight. Johnson has to compete with the likes of Jordan Farmar, Chris Douglas-Roberts, and Paul Pierce for that title.
It isn’t always the stat sheet that tells why I like WeJo. In fact, it’s hardly ever the stat sheet. Rather, it’s the things that can’t be quantified that make me such a fan of what he adds to the team.
Those are the kinds of things I’ll be talking about in this article. So please, save your criticisms until the end, and understand that this is just an opinion of mine — most of the information in here is borderline insignificant, and is more just me telling you why I’ve enjoyed having him so much.
Oh, and no, I’m not faking it. This is actually how I really feel about Johnson. Here, look at this tweet I sent out last week:
See? Totally serious. Now please, enjoy.
