Game 9: LA Clippers at Orlando Magic
Friday, November 2 at 4:00 PM
Last season: Clippers won series 2-0
The Clippers have won nine consecutive games against the Orlando Magic, and surely they’ll want to keep that streak going. However, facing their first back-to-back of the season, this could end up being a trap game.
While the Magic aren’t nearly as talented or competitive as LA is, they’ll have a day’s rest to prepare for the contest. The Clippers, though, will come in just a night after taking on a difficult 76ers team in Philadelphia.
Weak nearly everywhere besides the center position, the Magic should struggle. Expect Beverley and Bradley to shut down both Jerian Grant and Evan Fournier, and Gallinari and Aaron Gordon to go toe-to-toe. That leaves Orlando’s new prize, Mohamed Bamba, who may struggle against the veteran Marcin Gortat.
The Magic bench isn’t much to look at, either. Jonathan Isaac and Terrence Ross are worth noting, but that’s about it.
This is a game that the Clippers should win, and likely will win. The lack of rest will be the only formidable foe.
