October 28 – Washington Wizards
This game will be special. For the first time in four years, Austin Rivers will be playing against both the Los Angeles Clippers and his father, Doc Rivers.
In case you missed it this summer, Rivers was traded to the Wizards for center Marcin Gortat. Gortat was brought in as a solid veteran center as DeAndre Jordan was all but gone. Gortat will fill in the center slot for the Clips while Rivers gives the Wizards defense and scoring off the bench.
Expect a tribute video here for Austin but a win for the Clippers. Avery Bradley and Patrick Beverley’s defense proves too much for the Wizards dynamic backcourt.
October 30 – @ Oklahoma City
Another tough game in the first stretch. The Clippers probably lose again to the Thunder stars, especially in the tough atmosphere that Oklahoma City provides.
Month Record: 4-3
All in all, the month comes out positive. Yes, there are several hard games, but the Clippers benefit in not having a single back-to-back in any of their games. A healthy Clippers team can compete with anyone, so finishing over .500 is a real possibility. The team needs to come out strong if there is to be any shot of making the playoffs in the stacked Western Conference.
