Danilo Gallinari is excited by the prospect of playing LeBron James four times a year as well as showing the league a healthy Clippers team.
Ahead of playing in the NBA Africa game this Saturday, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Danilo Gallinari discussed his excitement for not only playing LeBron James next season, but for the league to see a healthy Clippers’ team. You can check out the quotes below from ESPN:
"Last season we didn’t have a chance to show everybody what we can do because everybody was injured. I think we played only three games together out of the 82, which is an amazing stat."
Regarding LeBron James, Gallo explained that it will only make playing in the Western Conference even harder.
"It’s going to make the LA game [Clippers v Lakers] more interesting, and it’s going to make the Western Conference even tougher. It was already tough, but with him coming to LA it’s going to be even worse"
Gallo last season
Obviously this is the type of stuff fans want to hear from Gallo after his disappointing year last season. Despite putting up numbers nearly identical to his career averages (15.3 points on 39.8% shooting, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists), Gallo was unable to stay on the court. He looked great upon returning from his glute injury, but was quickly sidelined again after breaking his hand.
He only appeared in 21 games for the team and did not live up to the hype of finally having a scoring small forward on the roster. This isn’t the first year that Gallinari has had injury issues. He has not played a full season in his career, but did manage to play in 81 games in his second season in the league.
Gallinari will hopefully bounce back strong this year and we can finally get a good idea of the effectiveness of him playing alongside Tobias Harris. On paper, the two should be capable of switching defensively and will create issues on the offensive end for other teams with their spacing of the floor.
The team can definitely use Gallinari’s talents on the court as they make a push in the extremely deep Western Conference.
