Per Adrian Wojnarowski, combo forward Luc Mbah a Moute has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced via Twitter that free agent forward Luc Mbah a Moute has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. The contract is worth a reported $4.3 million, although that number is unconfirmed.

Mbah a Moute previously played with the Clippers from 2015-2017, appearing in all but seven games. He played a significant role with the team in both seasons, starting in 137 combined games, as well as all 12 possible playoff games.

Over the course of those two seasons, Mbah a Moute averaged 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Renowned for doing a little bit of everything, the 31-year-old is an extremely versatile defender that will fit right in with the current roster.

Mbah a Moute played for the Houston Rockets last season with former teammate and Clipper Chris Paul. There, he appeared in 61 games, starting 15, and averaged 7.5 points per game. In addition, he shot 36.4% from three on a career-high 2.8 attempts.

The Clippers appear to be going all-in on their defense after re-signing Avery Bradley and bringing back Mbah a Moute. To bolster what would already be an impressive defense, the Clippers will likely play Patrick Beverley in the same rotation.

Most importantly, the signing of Mbah a Moute provides LA with much-needed wing depth. Previously behind Tobias Harris, the Clippers were stuck with Wesley Johnson and Sam Dekker. Mbah a Moute will likely slide in behind Harris as the primary backup wing, although he could play behind Danilo Gallinari as well.

This is a great signing by LA’s front office. Not only was Mbah a Moute a fan favorite, but he’s an excellent value for the money. At last, the Prince has returned.
