Everything you need to know about the Clippers’ Summer League Roster
No. 1 Jawun Evans, G, LA Clippers
2017-2018 Stats: 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds
Our first returning member of the LA Clippers Summer League team is Jawun Evans, a second-year guard that stepped up and played hard for the NBA’s Clippers last season.
No one expected Evans to record more than four or five minutes per game when he came into the NBA. A second-round selection, the thought was he’d stick with the G-League team and learn the game under Chris Paul. But when Paul got traded, and injuries struck the Clippers early, Evans was thrust into a larger role.
The 21-year-old started in four games last season, averaging 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. In addition, he appeared in 48 total.
Now that he’s had his hand with NBA-level guards, Evans shouldn’t struggle in Summer League play. Whether or not he starts over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be interesting, though. Evans may have more experience, but the Clippers will likely push for Gilgeous-Alexander’s development.
