Lou’s Line: 40 points, 10 assists, 4 steals, 2 rebounds

Perhaps the thing that Williams is best at is picking up the slack. After all, that’s kind of what a sixth man is supposed to do. But Lou goes above and beyond more often than not, which is exactly what happened here in Memphis.

On a night when the starters combined for just 54 points, including a mere 14 from Griffin, Williams answered the call in his sixth career game scoring 40 points or more.

Lou made 12/19 field goals overall, and 4/10 from beyond the arc. In addition, he connected on 12/14 free throws, giving him a true shooting percentage of 79.5% for the night.

The 10 assists he recorded resulted in an additional 22 points, making Williams responsible for 62 points in total, or 57% of the team’s final score.

Doing that as a starter is impressive enough — getting 40 and 10 off the bench is absurd. According to ESPN’s Stats page on Twitter, it’s happened just three times in NBA history. The first was in November 1973, when ‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich had 42 and 10. The only other was in January 1982, when Brian Winters had 40 and 10.
