No. 1: January 10, 2018 — Clippers 125, Warriors 106
Lou’s Line: 50 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, 8/16 3PT, 10/10 FT
Was there ever any doubt? Not only was this Lou’s best game of the season, but it was the best game of his 13-year career.
Williams and the Clippers went into Oracle Arena against a Warriors team missing both Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry and took full advantage of the situation. In the third quarter alone, Williams dropped 27 points — more points than he scored in 60 games this season.
Lou connected on 16/29 shots overall, including 8/16 from three and 10/10 from the free throw line, thus equating to a true shooting percentage of 79.6%.
Not only was it a historic night for Williams, but it was wildly important to the LA Clippers and their fans. For the first time since 2014, the Clippers had beat the Warriors in the regular season, and for the first time since 2011 on Golden State’s home floor.
When discussing Lou’s legacy with the team, as well as what vaults him above the other Sixth Man of the Year candidates, surely this game will come up. It was one for the ages, and one that will live on for years to come.
