With the 13th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the LA Clippers selected Jerome Robinson, a standout shooting guard from Boston College.

The LA Clippers selected Boston College Guard Jerome Robinson with the 13th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Robinson was an elite offensive talent in college, most notably in his final season. As a junior, he averaged 20.7 points and 3.3 assists per game. In addition, he connected on nearly 41% of his three-point attempts.

As proven as he is on the offensive side of the floor, there are some worries about Robinson’s two-way potential. He’s a virtual non-factor on defense, which was the reason for his ranking on big boards.

That being said, Robinson is a favorite of Jerry West, and has potential to become an NBA star. It will only help that he’ll play behind Sixth Man of the Year Finalist Lou Williams.

The LA Times’ Brad Turner caught up with Robinson after his selection, who said the following:

"“I just thought it was a great fit. They want to win and I’m a winner.”"

Despite Robinson’s potential, it’s easy to peg the selection as a reach. Chances are he still would’ve been available in the late-teens or even mid-20’s, and the Clippers could’ve traded back to secure him. It likely would’ve been a smarter move, but I’m not here to doubt Jerry West’s insight.

Paired with fellow lottery selection Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Clippers appear to have a solid backcourt duo in the works. Alexander’s length and defensive versatility pair perfectly with Robinson’s bucket-making mentality. This is a likable, high-character duo.

Where Robinson fits in on the depth chart will be interesting. The Clippers will likely move a few guards this summer, and it’s possible that Robinson could see 25+ minutes per game in his first season.

The Clippers have no remaining picks in the 2018 NBA Draft, however, trading for/buying a pick isn’t out of the question just yet.
