Fit with the Clippers

So, if the Clippers do somehow manage to trade for the second pick in the draft as has been reported they are interested in doing, would Luka Doncic fit with the team?

The short answer: Yes.

Doncic seemingly would fit in with most teams, assuming his skills translate. The Clippers don’t seem fully committed to a direction just yet, so Doncic would be a good starting point. As currently constructed, he could slot in as a playmaking shooting guard alongside Patrick Beverley. Doncic would get the easier guard matchup on the defensive end while running the offense and allowing Bev to be a spot up shooter.

If the team manages to keep one or both of DeAndre Jordan and Montrezl Harrell, he could also perform well in the pick-and-roll. The Clippers offense with both Milos Teodosic and Luka Doncic could become very potent with ball movement, but would suffer greatly on the defensive end.

The fit is there, but the team has to evaluate him to make sure the price they’ll have to pay for the second pick is worth the product they will be getting.
