Get to know Luka

You haven’t heard of Luka Doncic? Where have you been? The 19 year old shooting guard has taken the EuroLeague by storm, even winning the MVP award along with the Final Four MVP after his team won the championship.

This kid can flat out play. His court vision is excellent, to say the least. He can navigate a pick-and-roll with the best of them and is both a finisher and looks like he can be developed into a knock down shooter. Basically, he seems like one of those “can’t miss” products. Did we mention that he is capable of playing point guard at 6’8″?

But hold on. Let’s not get too carried away by the hype. Doncic, like every prospect, has his shortcomings. First off, no European to NBA transition is guaranteed. Time after time, we’ve seen these “can’t miss” guys come over and turn into a whole lot of nothing.

Doncic needs to work on his defense, especially if he will be playing at the point some. Yes, he has size, but this limits him on the defensive end greatly. His speed isn’t there yet and elite guards may be able to blow past him. This may not only hamper him on the defensive end. On the offensive side, he may have a tougher time creating separation with quicker NBA players matched up against him.

If he somehow ends up on the Los Angeles Clippers, how would he fit?
