Troy Brown

Troy Brown Jr. (who The Ringer has projected us getting) is a 6’7″ guard out of Oregon. He, like Smith, is projected to be an elite defender with his 8’9″ wingspan. Also like Smith, Brown is a very young prospect. He will turn 19 on July 28th.

At Oregon, Brown scored 11.3 points per game on 44.4% from the field. He shot only 29.1% from deep. He is a very adapt passer, especially for a forward, averaging 3.2 assists per game. He won’t be the team’s primary ball handler, but could take over the duty at times, depending on the match-ups available. He’s also a good rebounder, having pulled down 6.2 per game. Brown should be viewed as a Tyreke Evans or Evan Turner type of player.

He needs to get a little quicker, especially if he does end up switched onto guards. His length does help if he gets beat, but NBA guards are extremely quick and crafty. His shot also needs some work, but is serviceable. For him to truly excel in the league, he’ll need to work on his scoring.
