Despite seeking other primary targets, the Los Angeles Clippers need to re-sign restricted free agent Montrezl Harrell this summer.

All season long, Montrezl Harrell played so efficient along with the second unit, proving game after game that he is valuable in most situations out on the floor. Regardless of what happens with other fee agents on the Los Angeles Clippers, it is smart to keep Harrell on the roster. Whether or not DeAndre Jordan and the LA Clippers agree to another deal, Harrell is in LA’s best interest. He gives value from either the starting role or as a backup.

Harrell has quietly become one of the most efficient scorers in the league in his young career. Though his defense is not quite there yet and his rebounding can improve, he still has potential to be a decent shot blocker. He has shown signs of being a great starting forward or small center. In fact, he was directly behind Jordan in the league in shooting percentage. DJ finished 2nd, making 64.5% of his shots, while Trez shot 63.5% from the field with the LA Clippers last season.

Montrezl only played 17 minutes per game last season, averaging a valuable 11 points per contest. Given more minutes, he can easily average 15 points a game, especially considering he plays hard every minute and is able to finish the break in transition at a high rate. With Lou Williams and Patrick Beverley, as well as so many others guards on the Clippers leading the pick and roll Montrezl becomes a great offensive option.

Assuming that Jordan signs elsewhere, or the Clippers make a deal, re-signing Harrell should be a priority. Even if they keep Jordan, he is worth the price patrolling the paint with the second unit. With his efficient shooting percentage and ball handling ability, Montrezl Harrell is a must sign for the Clippers this summer.
