The LA Clippers are without a second round selection in this year’s draft, but should consider buying a pick to select any of these underrated prospects.

Last year, the LA Clippers managed to steal two talented rookies in the second round of the NBA Draft in Sindarius Thornwell and Jawun Evans. Without picks of their own, the Clippers had to pay other teams for rights to their pick — something they should consider doing once again.

This year’s class is deep, and a lot of experienced prospects are hiding near the back end of the second round. Take Jalen Brunson for example, who won two championships with Villanova. Because he’s 21, teams are expected to pass on Brunson, and he’s projected to fall into the second round. He’d be a fantastic fit for the Clippers, who could benefit from his experience and skill set.

I don’t believe the Clippers will be able to snag Brunson, because there’s a chance he goes in the mid-20’s. But you get the gist — buying into the second round is very much advised.

Some of these players are circumstantial. If the Clippers select a point guard in the first round, then buying another in the second may not be the best idea. Likewise, if the Clippers draft a big with one of their two lottery picks, then taking a project big wouldn’t be smart later on.

All of the players are more experienced and have more defined roles, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The events of last season proved just how vital a team’s depth can be, and the Clippers should always be looking to bolster that.

Without further ado, here are five players that I believe are worth taking a gamble on in the second round.
