In today’s episode of Locked on Clippers, I talk about Doc Rivers’s and Mike Woodson’s new deals, in addition to reviewing this week’s top stories.

Today’s episode of Locked on Clippers caps off an exciting week. Clippers fans were energized a few days ago, after reading about the possibility of trading up for potential star Michael Porter Jr. Rumors are also floating around about the possibility of DeAndre Jordan going to Dallas as well. And to top all of that off, Doc Rivers officially signed a two-year extension to remain in Los Angeles.

On the show, I addressed the Rivers contract first, praising the organization for retaining him. Rivers got the very most out of a depleted and battered roster this past season, winning 42 games and starting G-League players for well over 30 combined games.

That’s not a knock on the players, Tyrone Wallace and C.J. Williams — it’s a praise or Rivers. To be able to get that level of production out of rookies is very rare.

The young Clippers core stepped up big when needed, and Rivers should be credited for a lot of that.

In other news, Mike Woodson will be hired as the top assistant in Phoenix. The Suns also hired Igor Kokoskov as their new head coach, who will be come the first European-born head coach in league history. Kokoskov spent his first three NBA seasons with the Clippers from 2000-2003 as an assistant to Alvin Gentry.

Woodson should be a solid fit behind Kokoskov. The Suns are a relatively young and inexperienced team, and a vet like Woodson will be crucial for development.

Jordan could very well be traded to Dallas along with one or both of the Clippers’ first round picks. If LA is serious about acquiring MPJ, it might not be a bad idea.
