Locked on Clippers May 11: Danilo Gallinari was a Failed Experiment
In today’s edition, I wonder if Danilo Gallinari was a failed experiment, cover this week’s top stories, and tell why the team must extend Tobias Harris.
Today’s episode of Locked on Clippers closes another successful week, and I covered some great topics to give you all something to chew on heading into the weekend.
To open today’s show, I tackled the Danilo Gallinari situation. Now that his inaugural season in Los Angeles has commenced, I took a look back to see if it was all worth it. The short answer is no, considering his lucrative contract and underwhelming performance.
His countless injuries didn’t help his case, either, playing just 21 total games over the course of the year. Known for his three point shooting and athleticism, Gallo provided very little of each. What’s more, he was arguably the worst value on the roster.
Whether Gallinari returns next season is unknown, but ultimately likely. The Clippers will have a difficult time moving his contract, if they try to.
Moving on from Gallo, I went into my Friday segment, Weekly News Roundup. This week, I went back over the team’s decision to reportedly extend Doc Rivers, Toronto’s firing of Dwane Casey, and last night’s sighting of Kawhi Leonard at the Los Angeles Dodgers game.
There are some big stories there, so be sure to tune in if you want to know more.
In my final segment of the week, I talked about Tobias Harris, and why the Clippers should extend his contract.
LA’s extension of Lou Williams‘s contract was a colossal success. The front office would be wise to consider doing the same for Harris, who will become a free agent at the end of next season.
Otherwise, the team could risk losing a franchise piece during an important rebuild. And for the money, Harris could be very vital for the Clippers for the next few years.
