Doc Rivers on LeBron James’ Basketball IQ: “This is Not Good.”

LeBron James should never be underestimated. Los Angeles Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers talks about when he realized just how big of a threat the All-Star was.

Have you been daydreaming about what free agent our beloved Los Angeles Clippers get in the off season? Me too. Thoughts of Paul George, Kawhi Lenord, and “the GOAT” LeBron James, dance around in the heads of all the Clipperholics out there.

Think about it. LeBron James in a Clipper uniform. It seems like it’s something Doc Rivers wouldn’t mind. With LeBron, arugably single handily, leading the Cavaliers to another Eastern Conference Finals, there’s a lot of praise for King James going around. Recently, Ex-Cavs GM David Griffin was on Bill Simmon’s podcast speaking about LeBron’s basketball IQ and how he can call out plays the other team is making.

An older interview with NBATV that Doc Rivers did in 2016, is making it’s rounds on the internet because he made similar comments on the the basketball legend. He saw a lot of LeBron when he was the coach for the Boston Celtics.

"“When [LeBron] was in Clevland [the first time] he was just playing basketball. We get to Miami and he’s calling our plays out, he’s staring over at our bench, he’s reading stuff. And I remember saying, ‘Oh this is not good. This is not good.”"

I’m sure he would switch it to “oh this is good,” if the All-Star suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers. Although this doesn’t seem likely to happen, we can all hope. If James does decide to hit the free agent market this season, every team will likely have a pitch ready for him. The Clips may have to move pieces to make space, but if he showed interest in the team, it would be well worth it. Only the off season will tell.
