In today’s episode of Locked on Clippers, I talk about the Draft Lottery, compare Tobias Harris and Blake Griffin’s seasons, and give my take on Toronto.

Today’s episode of Locked on Clippers is a doozy, and, hot take alert — re-read that title.

To start off today’s episode, I ran through everything you need to know about the NBA Draft Lottery. Next Tuesday night, the ping pong balls will drop, and the future of the Clippers franchise could be changed forever. If you’re feeling unsure about the rules and what to expect, you can check out this piece we ran a few days back.

In addition to talking about what to expect, I went over some previous lottery picks made by the Clippers. This includes Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin, and Al-Farouq Aminu.

After going over the Lottery, I spent most of my time discussing Griffin and Tobias Harris. We all know Griffin is the better player overall, but is Harris the better fit for the Clippers? Moving forward, my answer is yes.

Simply put, Harris is younger, quicker, and a better shooter — all things necessary to keep up with the NBA’s best teams. He also comes for a fraction of the price, something else vital when rebuilding. The move might still sting, but trading Griffin away was the best move in the grand scheme.

Finally, to close today’s show, I gave my take on the Toronto Raptors’ current situation. In case you haven’t heard, the Raptors are considering parting ways with head coach Dwane Casey. In my mind, that’s just something that doesn’t add up.

When you assemble a team fronted by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, your ceiling isn’t the NBA Finals. And when your team doesn’t reach that benchmark, you shouldn’t take it out on the coach that just helped you achieve a franchise record win total. Just my thoughts, though.
