Jerry West to Represent Los Angeles Clippers at 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Jerry West will officially represent the Los Angeles Clippers at the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night. It will be LA’s first lottery since 2010.
Earlier tonight, the LA Clippers announced that Jerry West will be representing the franchise at this year’s NBA Draft Lottery. West currently serves as a consultant for the team.
West has an impressive history both as a player and an executive in the NBA. ‘The Logo’ spent 14 years as a player in the league, all of which were with the Los Angeles Lakers. West was a 14-time All-Star from 1960-1974.
After his short coaching career, West joined the Lakers as a scout, where he advised the team to select Magic Johnson, among other players. He was promoted to General Manager in 1983, and is considered responsible for the championship run the Lakers went on in the 1980’s.
West retired from his executive work in 2007, but before hanging up the gloves for good, he joined the Golden State Warriors, accepting a similar position to the one he has now with the Los Angeles Clippers. There, West helped the team draft Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

As an executive, West has eight NBA titles to his name. As a player, he earned his lone ring in 1972.
West will serve as representative of the LA Clippers at the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery, the team’s first lottery appearance since 2010. That year, former team President Andy Roeser represented the Clippers. With the eighth overall pick, the Clippers selected Al-Farouq Aminu.
Given West’s expertise (and probably some luck) when it comes to drafting young prospects, Clippers fans can feel confident in having West’s advice. Here’s hoping the Clippers can beat the odds and secure a high pick in this year’s draft.
