Locked on Clippers May 7: Doc Rivers is here to stay
In today’s edition of Locked on Clippers, I talk about the Clippers’ plan to extend Doc Rivers, Montrezl Harrell’s rise to power, and the playoffs.
To start off this week’s episodes of Locked on Clippers, I went in depth on the Doc Rivers situation. He and the Clippers are reportedly nearing a contract extension, which is a smart move.
There’s currently no word about the length of the extension, or how much Doc’s contract will be worth. In the show, I explain why the move signals why the best is yet to come for the LA Clippers. Coupling a veteran coach that is coming off one of his best seasons to date with young talent is a fantastic decision, and one that the Clippers were wise to make.
After the Rivers news, I provide an analytical view of Montrezl Harrell‘s breakout season. Despite starting just three games, Harrell provided as much of an on-court impact as anybody else this past season.
Moving forward, we can expect more of the same from Harrell. He only got better as the season went on, and at just 24, he has tremendous upside. So long as he doesn’t slow down, he could become one of the league’s better bigs in a matter of years.
To close the show, I covered what’s happened in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. LeBron James is still playing like a cyborg, in case you were wondering, and has his team poised to make yet another run at the title in the Eastern Conference.
In the West, it’s a lot of the same as well. Golden State is poised to advance to the Conference Finals, and the Houston Rockets are looking to do the same. And Chris Paul is looking to make his appearance there for the first time ever.
