Austin Rivers recently commented to TMZ cameras on the future of the Los Angeles Clippers roster and Blake Griffin’s happiness in Detroit.

As he was departing for vacation, TMZ cameras caught up with the Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers.

Current Roster

Rivers was asked a couple of questions. First, he was asked if he wanted the team to come back as constructed for another run in 2018-19. Austin responded by saying he hoped that the team would be brought back. This is big, especially considering that Austin has a player option for his contract next season. He seems like he will either opt in or hopes to just get a new deal which will keep him in Los Angeles.

Rivers is currently set to make $12.6 million if he does opt in. Many teams don’t have that type of money to give out to players in free agency, so opting in and playing for a deal this season may be his best bet.

Blake Griffin in Detroit

TMZ also asked Austin whether or not he had heard anything from Blake Griffin since being traded to the Detroit Pistons in a blockbuster deal. Rivers said he knows that Blake is happy and that playing in Detroit is a fresh start for him. He also noted that Blake still lives in LA during the offseason, so he can hang out with Kendall Jenner whenever he wants.

The fresh start looks to have been needed by both Blake and the Los Angeles Clippers franchise. As more information comes out about the inner workings of Lob City, it seems like it really was time to go in different directions for both parties.
