Doc Rivers is expected to return to the Los Angeles Clippers as head coach according to David Aldridge of TNT.

Doc Rivers is expected to return to the Los Angeles Clippers next season, despite not making the playoffs according to David Aldridge of TNT.

This news comes out on the day after the team’s season ended and rumors came about that many executives around the league felt that his days with the team were numbered.

We even just published a list this morning of possible replacements for Doc, should his time with the team come to an end. However, that all seems moot now.

Doc Rivers has been criticized for the team’s failure to make it past the second round of the playoffs during the Lob City era. However, he received a lot of praise this year for coaching a injury plagued team to compete for playoff seeding all season.

In his five seasons with the team, Doc has a regular season record of 259-151. This gives him a winning percentage of 63.2%, which is a far cry from other coaches in Clippers history. However, playoffs have been a different story, with him posting a record of 18-22 in the team’s four appearances under him.

This news may upset many Clippers fans, who believe Doc is the main culprit for the team’s failures. However, with Jerry West advising the team, alongside the front office, there must be belief within the organization that Doc is the right man for the job, at least for the time being.
