Los Angeles Clippers: Grading Every Player’s 2017-2018 Performance
Montrezl Harrell: A+
Montrezl Harrell was a favorite of mine from the 2015 Draft class, and the fact that the Clippers didn’t have a single pick that year was infuriating. Just from watching him in college, you could tell that Harrell had tremendous drive and an engine that didn’t quit.
So it’s only natural that when Harrell was sent to the Clippers as part of the Paul trade, he was the player I was most excited about. I was still stoked about Beverley and Lou Williams, but I knew Trezz had a chance to be huge for LA.
But what Harrell accomplished this season was something beyond huge — especially in the second half of it.
From February to April, Harrell averaged 14 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19 minutes per game while shooting 67.3% from the field. During that same stretch, he scored 10 points or more in 24 of 31 total games. In addition, he scored 15 or more in 15 of those same 31.
So, to sum that up: Harrell scored 15+ points off the bench more times (15) than he scored 10 or less (seven), all while playing 19 minutes per game. And yes — he came off the bench in every single one of those games.
