Why the Los Angeles Clippers aren’t playing Boban Marjanovic more
The Modern NBA
This is the first and biggest aspect we have to take into consideration. The NBA has changed to a three-point shooting league. Gone are the days of traditional post up basketball on every play. Boban’s lack of playing time directly correlates with this.
Boban is a traditional big man in every sense of the word. He has a soft touch, but does not score via jump-shots. In fact, he’s only made four shots at a distance greater than ten feet from the rim. More and more big men are being asked to expand their game. If they aren’t expanding their game, they are typically uber-athletes, a-la DeAndre Jordan, Hassaan Whiteside and Clint Capela. Boban doesn’t really fall into either of these categories. He is a big man who cannot move quickly, jump out the gym or shoot from deep.
He can do one thing: score down low.
