Former Los Angeles Clippers’ player Sean Kilpatrick Signs With The Chicago Bulls
By Thomas Fenn
On Monday, former Los Angeles Clippers’ player Sean Kilpatrick signed with the Chicago Bulls.
In a year that has seen thirty two different starting lineups for the Los Angeles Clippers, one of the players was 9 year veteran guard Sean Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick was signed by the Clippers after both rookies C.J Williams and Tyrone Wallace expired on their two way contracts with the main roster.
With career averages of 10 points per game,2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists, Kilpatrick’s ability to score in the NBA has never been in question. In his final game as a Clipper Kilpatrick tallied 15 points off the bench in a losing effort against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
While a member of the Brooklyn Nets in the 2016-17 season, Kilpatrick had a 38 point outing against the Clippers.
Stability is what NBA players seek the most. Moving around city to city not having a guaranteed contract could be detrimental to their future in the NBA. As evident through Lou William’s signing with the Clippers earlier this year. Ensuring stability in what he described as a turbulent environment of moving between cities. Kilpatrick has had his fair share of NBA opportunities having played for 5 different NBA teams. Stints in the NBA developmental league have also been common to Kilpatrick.
With his second 10 day contract nearing expiration, Kilpatrick signed with the Chicago Bulls on a three year 6.2 million deal as reported by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
With the impending return of C.J Williams and Tyrone Wallace following the G-league season, the Clippers can live with Kilpatrick’s departure from the rotation. With player’s having to move in and out of the rotation all year this adjustment should not be too difficult for the gritty Clipper roster.
